VOCALS-REx measurement campaign was conducted in the remote tropical Pacific Ocean in collaboration with the TAO project. CU SMAX-DOAS measurements were performed on the research vessel Ronald H. Brown from October 2008 through January 2009. Surprisingly, enhanced amounts of the relatively short-living CHOCHO could be detected far from known land sources.
