CUPiDS

The CU AMAX-DOAS instrument was deployed on the NOAA Twin Otter in the summer of 2023 as part of the Coastal Urban Plume Dynamics Study (CUPiDS) to examine urban and marine chemistry in the New York City area.

CUPIDS scientific objectives
Scientific goals of airborne DOAS during CUPiDS (“Coastal Urban Plume Dynamics Study”) are to study urban and marine emissions (NOx, iodine), map RFN, albedo, and coastal flows. (A) Schematic of chemical reaction cycles that link VOCs, NOx, halogens, and O3. Boxes indicate measured species. (Inset) Operating radius of Twin Otter when flying out of Long Island MacArthur Airport.
